2020-25 Plan

Petroleum and Chemical Engineering Education Society (PCEES) shall promote, to an unprecedented level, the principles of research and development in the teaching and practice of petroleum and chemical engineering in Africa, including, Nigeria.  To ensure the smooth intervention of the PCEES initiative, PCEES shall liaise with the relevant educational authorities and work out the institutional and developmental modalities for achieving its mission.  The under listed preliminary endowments and interventions will form the pilot stage by which PCEES will map out its extension strategy to other African universities. Special attention will be given to the area of research assistance to these universities.

Planned Endowments

1. University of Benin, Petroleum and Chemical Engineering Departments

·         One million US Dollars ($1,000,000) for the construction of PCEES Centre for Petroleum and Chemical Studies.
·         20 I-Mac computers ( or Dell, Lenovo, HP, Asus and Acer computer similar to iMac ) with associated software for use in teaching and research at the Departments of the University.
·         N5.5 million or US$15,000/year total for PCEES for Chairs in Petroleum Engineering and Chemical Engineering to be held by one deserving lecturer in each Department.
·         N1.0 million or US$2,750/year total for managing the PCEES Centre at the University.
·         Two scholarships of N200,000 or US$550 each to top graduate students in Petroleum Engineering (who must be members of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, SPE), and Chemical Engineering departments, to be named after Dr. Roberto Aguilera and Dr. Sudarshan Mehta respectively.
·         N500,000 or US$1,400/year Africa Regional Grant (Seplat Petroleum Development Company) to the University’s Student Chapter of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) to facilitate the organization/management of their annual Engineering week.
·         PCEES Technical Library – a collection of intellectual books, periodicals, contemporary research, reports and published works in Petroleum Engineering, and Chemical Engineering to cater for the academic needs of students and faculty.
Paid online journals and subscriptions to academic research materials.

3. Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO)

·         20 I-Mac computers ( or Dell, Lenovo, HP, Asus and Acer computer similar to iMac ) with associated software for use in teaching and research at the Petroleum and Chemical Engineering Departments of the University
·         Two scholarships of N200,000 or US$550 each to top graduate students in Petroleum Engineering (who must be members of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, SPE), and Chemical Engineering departments, to be named after Chikezie Nwosu, CEO at Waltersmith Petroman Oil Ltd., and Damilola Ogunbiyi, CEO and UN SRSG for Sustainable Energy for All, Co-Chair of UN Energy


5. Lagos State University, Epe campus

·         N1.0 million or US$2,750/year total for managing the PCEES Centre at the University
·         N100,000 or US$275/year PCEES scholarship to an Engineering Student (who must be a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers International)
·         Two scholarships of N200,000 or US$550 each to top graduate students in Petroleum Engineering (who must be members of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, SPE), and Chemical Engineering departments, to be named after Kamal Abdelaziz Mabok, VP at Dar Petroleum Operating Company Ltd., South Sudan

·         N1.0 million or US$2,750/year total for managing the PCEES Centre at the University

4. University of Ibadan, Faculty of Technology

·         N1.0 million or US$2,750/year total for managing the PCEES Centre at the University
·         Three scholarships of N200,000 or US$550 each to top graduate students in Petroleum Engineering (who must be members of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, SPE), and Chemical Engineering departments, to be named after Andrew Adeniji, Vice President at Chase Bank; Tayo Akinokun, Region VP Baker OFS, and Monday Okoro, MIT Sloan Fellow – SF07 VP Schlumberger Production Management.
·         N2.0 million or US$5,500/year for the organization and management of PCEES annual lectures in Petroleum and Chemical Engineering.
·         PCEES Technical Library – a collection of contemporary research, reports and published works in Petroleum Engineering, and Chemical Engineering.

6. The Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun (FUPRE).

·         N1.0 million or US$2,750/year total for managing the PCEES Centre at the University
